Career Change Partner for Therapists
When your client needs to change careers before they can progress.
Your client is frozen, fundamentally misaligned with their work and unsure how to move forward. Their job is wrong, the culture is toxic, or they’ve outgrown what they’re doing. They need to leave. But figuring out what career to pursue instead, planning a transition that doesn’t crater their income, and actually making it happen is overwhelming them and falls outside your scope of expertise.
I’m a Connecticut-based therapist who specializes in career transitions. I can help your clients identify what career direction fits them, use a battery of assessments to target realistic options, and plan the actual logistics of making a change. You continue the therapeutic work. I handle getting them into a different career.
When they’re finally out of the wrong job, the deeper clinical work you’re doing together can take root.
What career transition work involves.
When I work with your clients on career transitions, I provide a structured assessment process to help them gradually narrow down their options.
I administer a comprehensive battery of career assessments that examine strengths, values, interests, and work style. These are validated tools that identify careers aligned with how someone is wired.
From there, we narrow down realistic options, go through a structured research process, and evaluate what each path would require. We evaluate the trade-offs and assess whether the change they’re considering will adequately address the problems they’re trying to solve.
This process typically takes 5-10 sessions and includes emotional support for the doubt and anxiety that comes up during major transitions. If they decide to move forward with a job search, I continue supporting them through that process as well. Learn more about my career coaching process.
If your client ultimately decides to stay where they are, I can also offer strategic guidance for navigating organizational politics without putting themselves or their families at risk.
You handle the clinical work. I handle the career direction and transition planning.

Why do therapists recommend my services to their clients?
Clear division of labor. You do therapy. I do career transitions. When your client needs both, they can work with both of us simultaneously without the work overlapping or conflicting.
Therapy can progress. When clients are consumed by career questions, obsessing about quitting, researching jobs during their spare time, and unable to focus on anything else, therapy stalls. Once they have a concrete career plan and transition strategy, they can engage more effectively in the deeper clinical work.
I speak your language. I’m a licensed therapist who understands clinical dynamics, dual relationships, and boundaries. We can collaborate on complex cases without translation.
Your clients get specialized support. Career transition work requires structured assessments, industry knowledge, and transition planning that usually falls outside therapeutic training. Referring means your client gets expertise in both domains.

Who is this appropriate for?
This work is for clients who are currently employed or can maintain employment, but are in the wrong career. If your client’s trauma, mental health symptoms, or life circumstances are severe enough that they’re struggling to hold down any job consistently, they need stabilization first before career transition work will be effective.
I work with professionals who are functional but misaligned, not clients who need foundational clinical support to achieve baseline functioning.
